LeBron probably won't make an impact for another 3 or 4 years... Kobe and Garnett didn't get as good as they are until a couple seasons in...
Why wouldn't they draft LeBron? He's big enough to play between Guard and Small Forward and the shear talent he has means that, if anything, he'll be at least a good player...
And so far, when you look at it, the High Schoolers that have come straight out since Garnett have had a reasonably good track record... hell Kwami Brown might be good if people stop making him cry... you got Stoudalmaire (sp?) the kid from a couple years back in Seattle (good off the bench guy can't remember his name...), Garnett, Kobe, Darius Miles (who's coming into his own), and probably some others. My mind is blank. There have been flops, Cleveland's Dasanga Diop comes to mind, but so far the same guys who were playing "stupid" high schoolers have transitioned reasonably well to the NBA and have shown some ability after a couple seasons in. And how much better ARE college players really?
And come on. Its not like I'm an f---ing Lakers fan going on about this. The Cavs have been terrible for nearly a decade and there one truly great seaons was 1975-76 (before I was even born by about 6 years). Now there's something to get excited about for once: Miles, Boozer, Wagner, Davis, Ilgauskas (the only Cav at the All-Star game). Jeff Van Gundy as head coach? This could be a pretty cool next season. For once. Now I just wish they had different uniforms.
