I think what he meant was that the same thing 'could' happen if one console was released before the others. You know, how the PS2 has totally dominated this generation.
Anyways, even that's questionable. Sometimes releasing a console earlier than others might not help. It all depends on how the console is hyped/adveritsed coming up to its launch, with a fair selection of games at launch.
