However, I don't think they should have executed the way they did.......come on, offices? contruction sites? I'm sure they could have found some other way to get the wrestler rehired, like having a friend fight a match for him and if the friend wins the match the particular wrestler gets rehired, or maybe Vice would give him one more chance and says he's hired if he wins a handi cap match..........oh well only time will tell if their concept will work.

Well the most logical and easiest way to get hired back is to get a new contract from another McMahon. But now would that make a fun game?
Anyhow, the story mode sounds bizarre, but I think if executed properly like they state in the interview, it will be an extremely cool mode.
What we wanted to do was sort of maintain what you expect from the WWE, maintain all of the other kind of game mechanics whether it be Hell in a Cell, or a cage match or really blow that out and take the action outside of the ring where we are really accustomed to playing and put the user in new environments that are very specific to the WWE but at the same time, give you the opportunity to experience the stuff you haven’t experienced before so whether it be interactivity, whether it be mission specific based objectives, which again revolve around Hell in a Cell, cage, table matches, all those different mechanics but actually going through each of those in an environment with a objective within the environment and overall mission environment objective, and then sort of your entire mode environment.
So uh try to factor in all the turns and twists, the double crossing you would expect from the WWE, its really to on its own, fantastic environment, fantastic game play mechanics, but really that kind of falls flat on its face if you don’t have a compelling reason to be doing all of this and getting excited about accomplishing your various tasks, so we feel we’ve done sort of a great job at bringing everything together presenting it to the user so have a lot of fun this mode.
I mean if they are able to incorpate some of the elements from other match types like HIAC, table macthes, ladder and whatnot into the environments themselves, I think it may be rather interesting especially if those areas are also accessible in the exhibition mode.

Ok next off, I don't know about the grappling system, it seems like a hybrid of Smackdown and No Mercy, I'm not totally sure I'm going to be happy with this style.........I think they should just go back to the old no Mercy system, it was prefect ( well atleast I thought so)
|
Well, the grappling system is an interesting one, and one of the aspect that I think may be it's biggest downfall if implemented badly.
The grappling system is a mix of SmackDown's/WrestleMania's grappling system which basically goes straight into a move, and No Mercy's grappling system with the strong grapple which actually goes into a grapple animation and you are able to walk around and whatnot. To help balance this, weak grapples are faster, less powerful and harder to reverse while strong grapples are slower, more powerful and easier to reverse. So it's like the AKI games in the sense that you got to wear down your oppenent before going for strong moves.

The people in the crowd..........I don't care about them......they can make them as detail as they want, what i want is the wrestling atmosphere .........especially the crowd noises........If someone interfers with your match and he's a bad guy, I want to hear the crowd boo, Or if your going back from a beating, I want to hear the crowd cheer, you know things like that.
|
Well, you and Yukes must think a like, I don't see the big deal with the crowd sure I want them to be lively but that's about it, but Yukes is stressing the importance of sound this year and they seem to be going about it in a unique way.
The game will feature bone crunching sounds and whatnot, but also some crowd noises. The crowd will boo, they will cheer, they will jeer and whatnot. They will also count along with the 3 count and get into the match.

The size difference.........hmmmmmmmmm...........if they pull it off right it might bring a lot of depth to the game........I always wondered how small guys could Body Slam the Big Show.
What they could do is change the moves according to suit....for example if A and up is to body slam someone ........on Big Show that move would turn into a drop kick to the knee or something.
But I'll see how it turns out
|
Well so far they seem to be addressing it, but it's hard to tell with only two wrestlers in the movies so far.
Rey will notice Taker is taller than him by looking up when he fights him and minor stuff like that, but also in gameplay, if Rey goes for any power moves, Taker will overpower him so Rey relies on quicker moves such as arm scissors, arm drags and high flying moves.

The actual damage thing ....when you get hit on your leg too much and you start to limp sure works for me

Well, if impleneted correctly and not like SmackDown: Shut Your Mouth where it appears sometimes.

The high polygon models is something I'm cool with once the frame rate is constant and the gameplay is the bomb.

Graphics aren't too important to me if the engine is solid.

And I hope this time that get the Music intros right, but all in all this game has great potential and they seem to be stepping int the right direction, I'll be looking forward to it .

Hhaha yes, I hated the generic music they put for some of the wrestlers.

It seems like every wrestling game is either missing a bunch of cool things because it's a new engine, or they didn't have enough time, or if they have the extra things, the gameplay just sucks. No Mercy was one of the few to have it all.
|
Well, I can name quite a few things that these new games have that No Mercy doesn't have or is done much better than No Mercy did it, but that's just my opinion.

But I'm hoping WM XIX turns out great, but in all honesty I doubt it'll be much better than WM X-8 was.
|
I know what you mean, it's just too often wrestling game developers promise something and never delivers from Nitro to Thunder, from Warzone to any other Acclaim game, Mayhem to Backstage Assault and so on.

It's funny. Everytime they talk about WMXIX or XVIII they always start by saying "We have AKI former devloppers so the game is more like No Mercy!" "no mercy that, no mercy this" But in the end we all know it's the same crappy yukes engine.
|
Well, I found it odd because the first news that came out about WM XIX seemed to contradict that, I think they do say they have former AKI member working with Yukes, but they don't compare it to No Mercy, it's like every other wrestling game fan wants to compare it to No Mercy.
Quote:
1 question. Is it being made by the people who made No Mercy or just some of them?
|
If it's anything like WM x8, there were only two AKI workers on the staff.
Quote:
They say that they have some of AKI staff, but the game is nothing like no mercy.
|
Ofcourse, you will knows this because you played the game so much
Anyhow, I don't think that WrestleMania XIx is trying to be No Mercy 2, I don't think it's trying to be SmackDown 5, I don't even think it wants to be WrestleMania x-8 2. I think it wants to be WrestleMania XIx, it just seems to borrow some of the best features that work in other games and mix it with their new ideas.
