Er yeah, the roster will be pretty jampacked, but I think after a while everyone will resort to their CAW like any other wrestling game that has come out in recent memory.

I dunno about XIX though, I think that how the season mode looks so far is horrible... just looking at the base story I allready prefer SD4's and Raw 2's idea more. I mean, if you are fired from the WWE doesn't that mean no real matches? I guess I need more info, but I still say stay away from too much Hardcore action.

Well, I think the "Revenge" mode (it's name) sounds interesting, if not at all for being different, but I'm still a little confused on this according to PGC and Gamingring, there will be a season mode or something like it as well as this mode.

Overall x9 looks to be good, but defenently #3 out of the three future wrestling titles I'm looking forward to.

I don't think we will ever agree on this, I till don't have too much interest in Raw 2, and SmackDown will just always float around.

Before we begin I think I should go over a few things most people are overlooking about this game. Wrestlemania X9 is not Wrestlemania X8. The game is almost completely different, mechanical wise. Give it a chance, it will have a season mode for the love of god!

However, as we played a pre-alpha version of the game its a bit early to say it's a great game. This title has so much potential. If THQ keeps this up we could quite possibly have the best wrestling title in recent years...
|
Thus far, no one came back disappointed.

Let's start with grappling. Its fun! Yes I said fun! I enjoyed the new system and it looks really impressive. Its easy to pull off moves and get an understanding of your superstar's armada of moves. I think the neatest feature is the way each wrestler's size strength and speed base the damage moves impact, this makes the game have a "real" feel.
|
Well, I think it's been touched on before.

The crowd also looks very realistic. They move and it's not the same model over and over... The only down side is, for some, as far as the crowd, no crowd fighting... Oh well many other features are available for this title...
|
I don't care about the crowd fighting, but no backstage kind of sucks.

The interaction with the entrance way or stage is just amazing. I can't remember how long I've been asking THQ for a scale size arena stage etc.. with interaction and here it is! You can punch your opponent off the stage! And you will even be able to do moves off like the last ride! Not only this when you fall off your wrestler actually climbs up! Yes I mean climb, not magically walk into it and appear up there, climb.
|
Well this sounds like a cool feature, I mean it's about time they made the stage interactive, I wonder if there will be some stages without ramps and whatnot like some of the PPVs.

The best part though... When I was slammed through the table my wrestler stayed down. Yes, stayed down and a lot longer than a suplex, a lot longer than a finisher actually. Really nice and lifelike. Now if they could just incorporate it into the stage area... hmm

Now for weapons, I am a huge weapons buff. There is just something really cool about beating a defenseless victim on the mat as they lay in a pill of their own blood that really gets me going. The weapons in this game won't be anything to write home about. No grappling on them for one which I can understand due to time. But the thing to me is how big the weapons are compared to the wrestlers! It looks like the last game. The chair was the size of Rey and the board looked like a bread stick! Now I was told the weapons are in very early stages and are not nearly completed, I will be following this closely. The good things about the weapons are that they come from under the ring and they dent.
|
I have never liked the feature of WrestleMania x8, what is with the large weapons anyhow, it makes no sense and looks bad.

At this stage, the game has the potential to be one of the best WWE titles ever. It really depends on a few things how this game will be. First the season. We didn't get to play this. WMX8 didn't have a career or season but WMX9 is boasting a unique career mode, never before done which will be either totally awesome or totally suck. But it will also have a regular season mode. So both season and career. The other factor about this game is details. It won't have some of things wrestling gamer's have come to expect because it is a brand new engine and there simply isn't enough time.

Fortunately I am glad to say that my impression was wrong and that Wrestlemania XIX will not only have the story mode but also the regular season mode. The story mode has the potential to go anyway. It could suck major ass or it could be something done very well.

THQ realized and admitted from the start that last years Wrestlemania X8 disapointed on many levels. Unfortunately the limited development time put a damper on the engine, the graphics and animations which to even the most ardent supporter of THQ and the WWE franchise was obvious that they were not where they were needed to be.

The gameplay is somewhat reminescent of No Mercy Each WWE Superstar will have differentiated abilities so that for a wrestler like Rey Mysterio JR will have to compete and play a match differently from a player who chooses the Big Show. The audio experience has also been enhanced and even at this early stage was heads above any other wrestling game seen. THQ did a great job of capturing the sound of the big hits.
|
Quote:
Speaking of big hits, the animation has also been improved from last years game. Because this was just a pre-alpha build there were only 2 characters available to play at the event. Rey Mysterio JR and Undertaker. Undertaker had a absolutely brutal move where he rubs his elbow in the face of his opponent.

Wrestlers will be able to have several finishers. So for example, you will have one finisher for the front, the back, and some wrestlers may have up to 4 or 5 finishers. So you can expect wrestlers like Kurt Angle to have all of his big finishers that he uses in real life while someone like Maven may only have 1 or 2.

All in all, at this early stage Wrestlemania XIX is shaping up to be greatly improved over its predecessor. Look for more coverage as it becomes available.

Check out Taker's face to see the blood.
Pictures from the season/Revenge/career mode. As you can see it mixes some gameplay from action games where you beat up no-name nobodies and end level bosses which look to be actual wrestlers.
