I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack:eek:
after a long time wandering the vast expanse of the internet i've returned to my homeland.....

or ya know ive been posting at xboxaddict.com (yes i bought an XBOX, but i still love my cube

)
yeah i was just cruzing through here cuz i was bored and the thing that struck me was the whole metroid fps/fpa debate...ive fought long and hard over this with xbox fanboys so let me set the record straight. as a fps metroid prime is crap. no multiplayer, no skill needed for aiming, only 4 weapons, average AI. If you want to label this as an FPS just on the shallow fact that its in first person and you shoot stuff, be prepared to have all the game's faults exploited.
If you call it a FPA you get to note its many positives: great story, awesome puzzles, tough bosses, lots of exploration, along with great graphics and sound.
that being said.
what exactly has Retro Studios proved? well, they've proved that they can, after 3 (plus?) years of development, with the help of (arguably) the worlds best software manufacturer and a popular franchise, make an outstanding game, but had to sacrifice 3 other games (unnamed sports title, unnamed car combat game, Raven blade) and a large portion of the staff just to get it off the ground. if nintendo leaves them alone to make raven blade or their car game, how good can we expect it to be? They've made a great game, but they're far from proving themselves.
and uh i think perfect dark 2 will be overshadowed by halo2, so GC needs a game that'll firstly overshadow halo ONE, then surpass perfect dark 0, and finally overcome the greatness that will be halo2. So uh how many exclusive, excellent FPS's have there been on any nintendo system? i can think of two. both made by a company nintendo no longer has. If you want some good shooters get an xbox or soup up your PC, unless you can deal with third party mediocrity like frontline or any of the numerous bond games
