It's true what you say, that the PS2 is selling phenominally. But look at it from this perspective. Sony hasn't monopolised the home console market, if they did, they would get:
3,732,020 + 1,034,484 + 327,699 + 248.260 = 5,387, 463 units for the PS2.
Yet, even without totally monopolising the home console market, the PS2 still manages to outsell all the sales of the hanhelds put together. So it's pretty unfair to say the GBA should be selling more (in total) than the PS2, when there simply aren't enough people interested in handhelds as a whole to even outsell the PS2.
But as we speak, the GBA is indeed outselling the PS2 on a week to week basis (for how long? Will it continue?). I think Pokemon has acted as some sort of catalyst, and brining in those extra consumers.
