XP and 2000 are practically the same thing.
When MS saw OSX, they cacked themselves and slapped a "prettier" GUI on top of Win2k, added a few more device drivers and some tweaks to the networking and mem management oh yeah, and PRODUCT ACTIVATION) extra annoying mollycodling which I can't turn off, and lo and behold WinXP was born.
If you look, you'll see that Win2k is really NT 5.0, and XP is NT 5.1. But I know I'm not alone thinking XP is a downgrade.
