its not really a phone line DSL runs tho. its a big Fat wire.

phone lines can be run tho this wire with your DSL. but a normal phone line will not support dsl.

Theres 2 types of dsl. (not counting the newer stuff) main 2 right now or aDSL and sDSL.

dunno which is witch i get them confused. hell i dont even remember which it is i have.

one of them is more like cable. speeds fluctuate some days you might get faster then other days.

normally. moneywise. Cable is faster for what you pay for. DSL can easily get up to the speeds cable gets. but you pay a little more.

cable ovbiously runs tho cable.

Cable is faster uploading usually. and downloading usually too. (altho like i said. pay a bit more and DSL will do the same.)

For games. from what i've seen playin online over the years.

DSL will get you a lower ping. on average. i mean One of my teammates in quake. downloads with his Cable over 300k/sec.
gets a 70ping on this server.

I with dsl. download at a crappy 80-100 k/sec
However i get a 30 ping. Go figure. And this is from basically the same distance.

of course a lot of things factor in. but everyone says when they switch to one or the other. higher pings with cable but faster download.

I dunno all the technical mumbo jumbo. i just speaking from experience. Game wise. pings are a little more stable with dsl. It really depends on what you need the connection to do for you.
