Why is this? Most security exploits (viruses, malware, etc) that exist can only run applications and whatnot with the priveliges of the user logged in.
If you fall victim logged in as admin, your box has been r00ted and the malware will have total control over your system - so it will be able to install and run whatever software it likes, reformat your hard drives, etc etc.
If you fall victim as a generic user without admin rights, at mst you're going to lose your "my documents" folder (which you should never keep anything in anyway; it's the first target for viruses that go around deleting stuff).
The same applies to XP Home and 2k as well, as well as *nix OS's. Run as root as little as possible and you're much more secure.
