It was a CD-R cause the data side was green. DVD-R media (all types) are purple. Now I challenge you. If you can open your system I want you to put a gamecube disc in and turn it on while holding the lid switch in the back. Notice it checks the barcode, center, then end of the disc? If you put in a dvd-r, it will do the same but stop spinning since no game data was found. Finally, insert a CD-R. What? It only spins for a second! The laser is unable to read cd media. Try DVD movies and cd audio. You will notice GC trys to read DVD but spits CD in your face.
