PAL M runs at 60Hz, being the vertical frequency. but it has a wider channel bandwidth that allows for better picture quality.

Of course, HDTV has changed all that. Cause see, PAL runs at 625 lines/frame. Being the better picture than NTSC's 525 lines/frame. PAL M of course, only gets 524 lines/frame, but it also has the faster frequency.

Now, when we look at HDTV, I believe they have anywhere from 700-2,000 lines/frame. The 700 will be the cheest, sub $1,000 TVs that support a digital signal. The 2,000 line ones are the $5,000+ range widescreen HDTVs. There are different names for these, EDTV, SDTV, HDTV, but let's not confuse anyone here. Those are affected by lines, screen ratio, and dolby 5.1 output.

HDTVs also support frequencies from 50Hz to 120Hz.
