The greatest recent success stories from Republicans have been on the fiscal conservative side, so I doubt your analysis has much merit other than parroting Democrat talking points. Also, the topic at hand was "who could win", not who would the party throw their weight behind, so partisan "mottos" have little to do with this topic.
If Republicans want to win this fall, and in 2012, they need to argue numbers. Facts are stubborn things, and independents will follow a logical, reasoned arguments, and frank discussion that doesn't talk down to their constituency. Not ideology, as the far left and right follow. This is why Chris Christie has been a success and why Paul Ryan is the most feared man by the Adminstration, especially after his performance during the healthcare summit.
