It doesn't just look like FFXII. In fact I don't really think it looks anything like it.
The Final Fantasy games go in stages. The early ones (SNES) were more medieval and magical. 7-8 were semi-technological. 9-10 were fantasy with no technology. 12 was medieval. 13 is back to technology.
