Or rather it would, if the Leviathan had decided to attack.
But the Leviathan did not attack, it waited.
The Basilisk eventually grew tired of waiting for the Leviathan, and so it went to look for him.
The basilisk came to the edge of the lake it gazed across then down into the water.
As the Basilisk peered into the water it saw the Leviathan. Fixing his gaze he smiled as he saw the Leviathan slowly turning to stone.
But the Leviathan smiled back.
It was then that the Basilisk realised that it was not the Leviathan he could see, it was his own reflection. In terror the Basilisk tried to turn away but it was too late, the Basilisk had already sealed it's own fate and it turned to stone.
The Leviathan decided he had, had enough of this shit, if he was doomed to spend the rest of his life at the bottom of a lake then it was just as futile as being turned to stone.
The Leviathan swam to the surface and peered arund the lake, he saw the Basilisk's statue twisted and contorted, a look of horror on it's face.
The Leviathan pissed itself laughing and left the lake forever.
