My dislike falls into how the tournament rules and regulations are, not time/pokemon I got.
I'm not a fan of the "Okay, breed this pokemon until you get the best stats possible, then level it up like mad to level 50, and fight everyone else who did the exact same thing, thusly nullifying exactly what you did to yours."
I'd be more down if it was like "Pick 6-8 normal pokemon under level 35 which you catch in your game. No breeding, no trading. Whatever your game has in it, and whatever you're able to catch and raise yourself, is what you get."
To me, that seems a lot more fair than "Make sure it's an aggresive type so it levels up mostly in attack and defense."
That, is my gripe with it.

Breeding pokemon over and over to get the best stats is pointless unless you are trying to get a nice IV, which to me ruins the game. I don't even think about those. There is no way to find them out in-game, they weren't meant to be known. I wish they didn't exist, every pokemon should start with a 31 IV. It's totally random and out of control.
