It all comes down to social values. Intrinsically I'd argue taking a life is the worse thing you could possibly do, ever. And even in the examples I'm about to list, I would still feel bad killing. But anyway, when murder is O-K:

1. war time
2. self-defense
3. to save your own life but not for self-defense reasons
4. accidentally or indirectly

Pedophilia is predetermined. Often it is an ends to some sick means. It's basically fucked up. The gray area is "what is pedophilia." I think nude pictures are subject of the most debate with regard to this. When you add rape/sex to the playing field, automatically we can agree that pedophilia is bad.

There's no arguing it. Killing someone in a war is not as bad as a 40 year old putting his penis in a 5-year old girl's mouth. Just typing that made me cringe a little inside, especially since I get to read about this sick shit now that I'm a psych major.

It gets a bit tricky though with age and all. Is two consenting 12 year olds that are having sex considered abuse? I mean, the US has some ass-backwards laws about sex and shit. Like, some 14 year old girl just got registered as a sex offender for putting up a picture of herself naked on myspace. That's bogus. That will haunt her on her record for the rest of her life. But the law is another topic to debate.

In this thread murder is not as bad as pedophilia unless it does not fall within the 4 points I listed above.
