Don't these issues usually snowball when politicians get tangled in them?

First it's "I had an affair, but I didn't father the child."
Then it's "Ok, that's the one child that i know to be mine."
And finally "Alright, there were 3 and I personally disposed of the other 2 myself."

Then the other side responds with "Just like *opposing side* to be killing babies with their bare hands and filed-down, vampire-like fangs."

Then a few months later someone on that side admits to doing the same thing?
