I really liked the style, actually. The ending was weird, I expected them to explain some stuff, but then I remembered that it was a J.J. Abrams movie so..
And when I first saw the trailers and stuff, I prayed that it wasn't a Godzilla movie. I was watching the movie and saw the monster and thought that it was him (her? it?) and thought "damn, not another Godzilla movie!". Then a little closer look revealed that it wasn't Godzilla, and the score in my head shot up 2 points.
I don't think they meant to make a movie with a huge twisting plot. I think they wanted to make a monster movie and show it from a whole different angle. It's like the relationship between Warcraft III and World of Warcraft. Instead of seeing the big picture, and what the monster does to the city (Godzilla) you see how it affects individual lives.
And I actually liked the cameraman and his narration.
Oh, and I watched Meet Joe Black last night. Not a superb movie, but the story and romance was kinda sweet. Brad Pitt was awesome though. 6/10
