I was wondering about this font Sony chose to use. I knew it indeed looked much like the Spiderman movie font, but I wondered exactly how similar it was.
I found out you can download the font
here. However, as is described in the comments at that link, the spiderman font itself is a derivative of a previous font called "1979" (don't ask me why it's named that). You can find the 1979 font
here. You can see they're almost identical, except for some slight changes (to some of the capital letters, for example). Perhaps in a few months someone will make a "PlayStation 3" font.
Maybe this rabbit-hole goes even deeper?
I just thought the small history was interesting.
