Re: Look Up in the Sky! Its a Bird...
Well I saw the movie earlier in the day.
Figured give myself a little time to disgust the movie. I mean granted should be longer than a few hours but eh.
I will say this much right off the bat, the movie exceeded my expectations so for those of you who were/are lukewarm towards the movie due to the trailers or commercials. I say give it a chance.
Well I guess I will start with the negative as they always seem to be the easiest to remember. Also gonna give a spoiler warning.
One is the idea of it being a sequel to part one and two but only playing with certain aspects happening in part two. It gets a little confusing.
The ending. The final battle's climax was rather anti-climantic I thought. And I kind of felt the hospital scene was a waste personally. I mean he is friggin superman.
The lack of background info. We are told superman has been gone for 5 yrs and we know he went in search of Krypton. And we have an idea how he got the info. But they never show him there nor do they expand or explain the original idea that luthor planted the info to get superman away.
The fact that Superman and Clark Kent both return the same exact day and no one bats an eye at that?
Other than that don't think had any major problems with the movie.
Now the good.
The action pieces, there are actually very few of them. Its actually a lot like the first movie.
There is the rescue scene this time a helicopter is replaced with an airplane. There is the crime stopping montage. And then there is the final earthquake causing land scam. There also is a very brutal battle in the climax. Where Superman took a legit thrashing.
The plot was decent. Its a comic book movie.
Though i must say Luthor's opening scene was pure genius.
The cast I enjoyed in their role. It was sad that Cyclops had more to do in this movie then he did in the X-men ones.
all in all it was a fairly enjoyable movie. Below Batman Begins and spiderman 2 in my book, probably tied with X2.
