They warned against blowing into the contacts. I've fixed many a cartridge by just cleaning the contacts.

But now I think I have to clean the contacts of our SNES, since many (clean) games don't work the first time I put them in.

And how do I fix my NES?

I think I have a couple of broken NESses somewhere....
