I'm not sure exactly what you should do, since I've never used iTunes to rip music, Cany, but choosing a higher bitrate, and making it 44k Hz is universal.
Use dbPowerAmp to rip CDs or to convert your audio files.
www.dbpoweramp.com If you don't have an iPod, I see absolutely no reason to use iTunes.
