Given my neighborhood we buy all our groceries from Asian markets. My favorite food is red bean paste dough balls...as well as red bean paste cookies...practically anything with red bean paste is delicious.
When I wasn't a vegetarian probably the weirdest thing I ever ate was a sea cucumber (sea slug). It tasted like warm hard jello that I couldn't break down into small enough pieces to swallow.
Also had ostrich jerky which was really really good.
People who know me think I have the weirdest eating habits. I make tomato soup by boiling water and squirting in a good amount of ketchup. I eat a jar of salsa for dinner sometimes. I don't eat meat but I like the condiments for hotdogs so I'll eat a hotdog without the hotdog...so that's sauerkraut, relish, and ketchup in a toasted bun. I put pickles on pizza. I dretch ketchup onto hard boiled eggs which I affectionally call "Bloody Eggs." Dunno if that's uncommon or not...roommate turned me onto it. Basically ketchup makes anything good.
Hummus is a staple in my family. Thought it was normal until I went to college and people were actually afraid of my dinner. Also like Tabouleh which is a lebanese salad of bulgur wheat and finely chopped scallions, tomatoes, mint, and parsley.
