Re: Cheap literature
I absolutely hate the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
However, most of those other books are really great reads, and I'll have read most of them by the end of the year. I wouldn't buy them, though (except maybe Macbeth) because any respectable library would have them anytime you wanted one.
I started reading the Canterbury Tales today, and it's alright. Sometimes it's really hard for me to get into this old writing (except for Shakespeare). I mean, I have mad respect for Chaucer, he was a literary genious. I have no idea how he came up with so many unique rhymes, all in iambic pentameter. I could never repeat that in a million years.
I'm going to read Pride and Prejudice before the years over, mostly because it's a classic, not because I'll enjoy reading it. I just try to be really well read, and challenge myself by reading things I don't particularly enjoy *cough*Turn of the Screw*cough*.
