Frisbee golf, frolf, all the same (I think?). I think disc golf is the proper name.

I love disc golf, I wish I played it more often. It gets so hot here and it's hard to keep friends interested enough to go... My two brothers and I all love it, if we lived closer together we'd go more often.

Annnnd, it's a lot of fun. Typhoid, yeah regular frisbees are cheap (even the good ones). But disc golf is played with something more like a disc than a frisbee. They're smaller in diameter and height but much heavier, made of thick rubber or clay or something. Anyway, since most are thin and heavy enough to cause pain when you catch it (at least the long-range and mid-range because they need to cut through the air and sometimes branches), they aren't really used for throwing and catching like a frisbee.

Where was I? Oh, these discs aren't expensive by themselves per se, but since you need at least two or three to play properly (short-, mid-, and long-range), and since they get lost in water traps and trees all the time, the money starts to add up. They cost about $7 each, but they go up to $20 and I guess more if you get really serious. You see a lot of people out there with a small ice chest-type pack out on the course full of 20 or so discs. And their giant baggies.... I usually just bring four or five (depending if I lost some the last time..) and play for fun. Which means I suck.

Texas somehow got really big on disc golf. Houston has about 15 courses scattered all over, including a really pretty one downtown, Dallas-Ft. Worth also has about 15, and Austin has several, and those are just the cities I know about. Texas is a closet-hippie-state I guess.
