Time and location do make a big difference on the outcome of events. One that personally happened to me was when I was walking home from school and I was about to cross an intersection. Just before I went across I noticed my shoe was untied, so I stopped to tye it. Just then, a lady spun right around the corner and sped right through the intersection. If I hadn't noticed my shoe I might have been hit.
