Yeah, I agree. Time and location effects the outcome of things.. it makes quite a big difference.

Situation 1
You had a ticket for one of the doomed flights on the day of the September 11th attacks. You're getting ready to head to the airport when your wife calls from upstairs. She's become really sick overnight, you decide to stay with her for comfort for a few minutes before heading to the airport. You spend 20 minutes hold her, then kiss her goodbye and rush to the airport. You miss your flight by 10 minutes, but you are still alive.

Situation 2
You're at school, and the past few days, and you decide to head down to the library to chat with your friends and see if they have the latest edition of Biker Magazine in. On the way, you run into your ex-girlfriend, and get into a little bit of an argument with her. You spend about 5 minutes arguing with her before a teacher tells you both to move along. You head towards the library again, and you hear gunshots. You duck into the nearest room. What happened is that some student opened fire on a crowded library. Had you been arguing with your ex-girlfriend, you would have been a statistic of school violence.
