I forget exactly what happens, but there is an explanation for the crap-tacular ships of Episodes 4, 5 and 6. They
did not overlook that fact.

Umm... maybe that is the legal point of view on the name change, but I think that they switched from "revenge" to "return" because Jedi are not vengeful, and they are not evil. Therefore, revenge is not a word to describe when they kick ass!
