The doubloon currency system is now active. So what are doubloons and what can they do for you? Doubloons are small gold coins which you can use to purchase various items.
To view what is for sale please visit the store. Since I activated the system a few days ago people have been accumulating doubloons at a much faster rate than I anticipated. Because of this I made some last minute adjustments to prices and earning rates. Prices may seem extreme but if they were more affordable then everyone would have everything they wanted in just a few months which would make the entire system pointless. I will be watching accumulation rates very closely and will make economic adjustments as needed.
How to earn doubloons
You earn doubloons by
- Posting threads
- Replying to threads
- Receiving positive feedback
- Winning contests
- Obtaining referrals
- Submitting editorials
- When members view threads created by you
Dbls per reply posted- General forum = 1 db
- Consoles forums = 3 db
- Think Tank and Intro forum = 7 db
- Everywhere else = 5 db
Dblns per thread posted- General forum = 10 db
- Consoles forums = 15 db
- Think Tank and Intro forum = 25 db
- Everywhere else = 20 db
Dblns per referral = 100 db (Use the "Refer a Friend" link found at the bottom of every page!)
Submitting editorial for homepage = 100 db
Dblns per positive reputation rating = 10% of leaver's rep power
Someone views a thread you created = .05 db
Intitial prices/earnings are based on forum statistics. An active member should be able to make an average of 300-500 dbs per month. Members who have been here 2 years or more receive a 15% discount on store items.
POST CRAMMING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!
If you make a reply or post a thread it has to be legitimate. Obviously there are times when a single smilie may be an appropriate reply, but if you make such replies constantly you will be fined. Likewise, if you get dozens of referrals but none of them ever post, your doubloons will be taken away. Just use common sense and don't abuse the system.
You'll notice in the store there is an item or two you can get with high enough reputation as well. This is why a positive rating is only worth 1 doubloon. There will remain items/privleges you can only get with reputation and others you can only get with doubloons.
Soon we will install a system which will let you gamble with your doubloons if you so desire.
