Canada does rely heavily on the US for its economy, though, so I'm sure that a good relationship with the US is always in their best interest. Actually, I'm kind of curious about this now. I'm off to Google...
... and I'm back. I wasn't able to find a total percentile for Canada's economic dependence on the US, but I was able to find this:

If 25% (35% when you add the trade surplus) of the Canadian economy is just from exports to the US, that 80% total figure may not be far off.
