Heh heh...yea, its pretty nice...
Its not a plasma or even an LCD, its just a Rear-Projection TV. But theyve come a long ways in the rear projection technology in recent years. The picture in them used to be all washed out and crappy looking, but now its damn clear. There are a few obvious downsides to Rear-Projections though. For one, you have to be basically at eye-level with the TV when watching otherwise the picture will be dark. So forget about watching while lying on the floor. (on the couch works fine though). Also, if you get to far to the right or left side of the screen it starts to get dark...I mean you can go a little ways to the side and its still fine, but go too far and you start having problems. That and you have to manually converge the picture tubes from time to time...but its really easy to do, only takes about 30 seconds. Oh, and these things are pretty heavy...I honestly dont know how the 2 circuit city guys got it down the steps to our basement without dropping it.
But as for upsides, the Price is the obvious one. We got ours as sort of a clearout model at Circuit City(They were tring to get rid of em for the newer models that were just released) But that certinly dosent mean its old technology or anything. In fact, Panasonics website still lists it at $1799, which is over 300 dollars more than we paid for it, and we even got a 100dollar gift card. So really if you know what your looking for, you can get a pretty awsome big screen progressive scan(the works) TV for just under $1500.
Oh, here it is
