1. I believe that evolved into the Nuon, which actually was released.
2. You're referring to Indrema, an open-source Linux based console. They couldn't find funding for it, so they had to cancel the project. They were over budget by 4 million, i think. They you also need people to mass produce it.
TuxBox is also planned. Doesn't stand a chance of ever coming out. All they did was take various PC parts and throw them in a box. It's not like Xbox, I mean, this is truly a PC in (and out of) a box. Take a look:
