PCI Express finally available for AMD platforms
Check it here!
With the 925/915 chipsets Intel brought the much awaited PCI Express to computing. Now AMD has it too. And since 925/915 flops, AMD is going to benefit again. This makes competition much more on equal footing. I can't wait till Christmas when I'm getting my new computer: AMD 64 3500+ (939) on 90nm nForce4 Ultra or SLI chipset based MOB 2X512 Samsung DDR 400Mhz in Dual Channel 2XRaptor II WD HDD 75GB each GF 6800GT (if Ultra chip) GF 6600GT(if SLI, with soon a second 6600GT to pair it) And some other stuff :) |
Re: PCI Express finally available for AMD platforms
It's tempting to upgrade right now. But I think that I'll wait until games really start pushing my 9800 pro. Then I'll upgrade to duel video cards on one of these new boards.
Hmmmm, that flickered a thought in the back of my head. Didn't Alienware at E3 this year claim exclusive rights for this dual video card thing? It was something similar right? Well, gotta go to class. |
Re: PCI Express finally available for AMD platforms
Actually, Nvidia owns the patent thing as far as I know because when they bought out 3dFX a few years back, they inherited the patents also (back then 3dFX had dual video cards also).
But I won't be getting dual video cards unless Ati gets off their ass and decides to support it also even though not as many people will have it but its a nice thing to know. But PCI-E and AMD = for me |
