Is anyone else seriously bothered by the fact that....

....if there were a situation, like we had in 2000, and it dragged on past Jan 20th, we don't have a president? There's nothing in the constitution that outlines what would be done in this situation? Does the Speaker of the house become president until the problem is resolved? Would the sitting president prior to the election remain president until the problem is solved?

One would think that after the madness of 2000, that there could have been a good bipartisan effort to come up with a solution.

I know if the candidates are tied then the president is decided by the house and the vice president by the senate. Other than that I'm sure the supreme court would drop everything to resolve the situation quickly.

I'm reading that a lot of hub-bub about voter fraud is already popping up in a lot of states. I don't know how much of it is true or not, but I think that it needs to stop. It is ridiculous to manipulate votes when we live in a democracy like we do. People need it to flow it's course.

In an event of a tie the candidates should have to run some crazy obstacle course and whoever wind is the new president

In the event of a tie the candidates should have to duel. And President Bush would get Senator Miller on his side.
