The Spinto Band plays NYC

Well, I should have posted this a few days ago when it was fresh in my mind, but now will have to do. So, last Saturday the Spinto Band played a free midnight show in NYC at the Knitting Factory , which is a fairly famous New York venue.

Anyway, my brother and I plus two girls from college drove down early on Saturday because said girls wanted to hang out with friends of theirs in the city. Thomas and I basically just hung out at an apartment in Brooklyn where some friends of his from college live now.

So it comes closer to midnight and show time, and here is where the fun starts. I start seeing acquantinces I know EVERYWHERE. There are people that currently go to my college, there are people that have graduated from my college, there are kids from my friend's college, there are kids from my friend's college that have graduated, there are kids there from a completley unrelated college....There are a lot of kids! And I kinda, sorta know them all, at least met most of them at some point.

Alright, so it's only 75 people or so, but for a Wilmington, DE based band in a NYC show...that's a pretty insane amount of people. All in all, it went pretty well, and I was just so cool seeing all of these Spinto Band fans coming out in support, seemingly out of nowhere in this big city.

Then we drove home, played the alphabet game on the way back (I got stuck on Q for too long...), and now I'm back at school. It has been a depressing semester, but this lifted me back up pretty high. I've realized that hanging with the Spinto kids is what I should be doing most of my time. Screw college.

God damnit. You'll go to New York but not Vancouver. Grrrrr..

If you come here, you shopuld play the Roxy(Technically a club, i believe) or the Commodore Ballroom....or even the Croatain Cultural Centre.

All are good Venues frequented by the likes of The Beastie Boys, Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Green Day, The Offspring.

But anyways, good job....you bastard you. :p

Have you ever heard of a road trip? :p

Damn, 3 and a half hours, thats it?

You can drive 3 and a half hours west from Vancouver, and barely be half way across BC..

46 hours is nothing...Nothing at all. If you think it will be so bad, and I think it will be fine, prove me wrong. Drive here, or Fly.

Road trips are fun.

Heh, we did almost play out in California once through some weird hustle where a college would pay for us to fly out to L.A to play at some show, but it didn't quite shape up. Patience is key here...Who knows, hopefully in a year or two we'll be touring like crazy. *crosses fingers*

Germantor, your music career is really taking off and at the same time school seems to be getting in the way. As a musician, you have an obligation to be there for your team and at this point your career seems to be escalating with no return downward. If someone suggested putting school on the back burner for a while, would you take heed of there suggestion. Afterall, this could be the beginning of super stardom. Why deny the opportunites at the expense of some boring reading assignments and homework? Life is too short for that.

I agree with most of that, which is why I'm very much considering transferring to a school close to home, so I'd be near the Spinto boys all of the time. I also wish that we had taken this semester off of college instead of LAST year because so much more is happening...Hindsight is 20/20, but anyways...yeah, music is the main thing I have going for me, so I'd like to pursue that big time right now.

If you play in San Francisco or Oakland, I'd spend time with you and your colleagues and make sure everyone was enjoying themselves and feeling comfortable.
