How does one learn Java
I see there are tests you can take to be a certified programmer, but what do you have to do to learn in the first place. One course? Two courses?

Re: How does one learn Java
Read a book, thats how I'm learning I recommend java for dummies :)
|
Re: How does one learn Java
Yeah, a book is the only good REAL way to learn Java. That's how I did it.
Courses work too. I got my Java book for $2. :D |
Re: How does one learn Java
Take a course at your local community center or college if they offer it.
|
Re: How does one learn Java
its usually 2 courses to finish it.
I love programing, and am quite good at it, but thoes 2 semesters were the most painful ever. i HATE the java language, it has some very crappy quirky things in it, and is very slow. but yes. 2 courses would do :P |
Re: How does one learn Java
Dear god are the courses bad, I only took one and then tested out of the other because it was soo boring, I read the book in my down time mind you so.. :)

Re: How does one learn Java
Bleh. I'm learning Java for my intro Computer Science course. BORING
|
Re: How does one learn Java
I've noticed lots of engineering jobs require java so I thought it might be a good idea.

Re: How does one learn Java
You will probably learn a lot more reading and doing stuff on your own. The courses I took sucked ass. They weren't Java specific though, even still, we had to learn to use it to do assignments and what not. There's a lot of stuff on the net to help you out as well if you're trying to learn on your own. I hate programming, so I have forgot most stuff, if I ever tried to program again, I would need refreshers.

Re: How does one learn Java
Im taking a programming course this year, but all we do is stuff in C++
Its boring as hell, IMO... |

YES! Oh thank god someone agrees with me. Im in IT 12 (info Tech) and we have been doing like, 3 or 4 straight weeks of programming in C++. I find loopholes and websites with the code i already need and copy and paste it, then change keywords. Or i just get someone to save their project in the public folder, change it around a bit, and Im done. Coding is so gay it hurts. |
Re: How does one learn Java
Coding is fun with Mr. Witherow.

Hes abundantly been saying "Oh Snap" lately. And i love how all you have to do is ask him one simple question about something, and he will do it for you. Lets weigh the pros and cons. Pros: Rarely there -Doesnt care about much -lets you eat and drink (pop) in class -you are able to sneak out and leave halfway through without him noticing. -Says "Oh Snap" -Basically does work for you -Marks easily -Has not caught on to me and my friends plan yet. Cons: -Major Nerd -Scarishly small -has a mustache -Has a..memory...stick..thing on a necklace. -Annoying voice -Knows too much -Loves Coding |
Re: How does one learn Java
Well he's leagues ahead of the Dickhead.. I mean, McConville. I can't believe I put up with him. McConville only had experience in Java. He was too scared of my assembler-level programming. SCARED
Witherow is the bees ****ing knees. I love him. Did you say hi to him for me yet? And that I'm getting 136% in my University programming course? He'll remember me. He might not believe the good mark part.. haha. |
Re: How does one learn Java
Ok, lets weigh McConvilles Pros and Cons.
(McConville got fired too....they didnt say what for, but i swear its cuz he was a stoner.) Pros: -Stoner -Wears Sandals -Constantly eating -Sparratic movement -Rides a bike instead of a car -Always wears shorts -Doesnt use C++ -Marks easily -"Vanishes" -Gave me an "A" Cons: -Retard -Laughs uncontrollably -Is stupid Phil, feel free to add to the list. |
