This is pretty much a waste of bandwidth, but I'll leave it up here so we know who not to listen to when dicussing politics :)

I usually try not to get HEAVILY involved in debates because I always get slammed for anything I bring up *cough*. So I will say other because I know who I'm voting for and my reasons. But stating them is not the purpose of this thread.

Most people only care about things that directly affect them. I do care a lot about politics, but I've basically given up trying to have an intelligent political debate on this forum.

No, but i think you have to be vaguely aware of the politics around you, at least, in your own country anyways. Or else your just a bum. a hobo. Someone without a home.

But in reality politics are just empty promises. Like we are the polititians girlfriend, and were asking him to call us, and he says "yes" then doesnt. All lies. Were asking him to get us a job, and he doesnt. Asking him to be honest with us and not lie, yet he does anyways. Asking him to bring flowers, but instead he forgot what he was doing and brought chocolates.

Way to completely misinterpret my post. The statement I made was intended (and pretty obviously I thought) to be aimed at those who claim not to care about politics or the election. Therefore if they say they don't care, you can pretty much dismiss their opinion, since they have no ineterest and lack of interest does not usually inspire research or educated opinions.

We're getting a little touchy, aren't we? :D

I don't see how it saves you from any worries. Even if you don't feel like getting involved, you have to at least know what's going on in the world. Hiding yourself in a shell is simply not that wise.

I care about american politics even though I'm in canada because its not hard to recognize that a change in presidency in our neighboors down south will certainly have repercussions in our nation as well.
