WCH
Knowing an NHL lockout is imminent, i am completely looking foreward to this ( yes i know 2 games have been played already) but i need my hockey fix.
Who do you think is going to win it all? How far do you think your team ( if you have one) will make it? Who is your team? Did you like it better when it was called the Canada Cup? Im not making it into a poll, because those die down fast and hard, so i'll make it open. So talk about the WCH results, upsets and losses. Talk about scores, games and what have you. Canada plays tonight at 4 pm pacific ( 7 eastern) on CBC against the Yanks. But i think Canada will go all the way, what about you guys? |
Re: WCH
Canada and Sweden in the final.

Re: WCH
Who's going to win?
Who knows? Who cares? It's extremely tough to say, especially since they're only playing 3 games apiece (should be 6) and then going straight to the quarterfinals, but the Czech Republic looked awful losing 4-0. Didn't you see Mario Lemieux almost get into a fight last night? |

WHO CARES!??!?! I care, i know plenty of people who care, im guessing the players of every team care. Every hockey loving fan cares. The coaches care. |

If they cared, it would be played on a regular basis. The last one was in 1996, before that it was in 1991 and called the Canada Cup. If they cared it would be every four years, or some other consistent schedule. Like I was saying I don't really care who wins, because it's so hard to tell. I'll just watch for the fun of it, enjoying it as it goes along and having few expectations. |
Re: WCH
I don't know much about hockey other than that Sweden will win!

Re: WCH
I know its inconsistent with the times they play...I have no idea why.
But if there is a lockout ...(high possability) and this is the last time you get to see the greats play....wouldnt it make you want to watch it that much more? I dont know about you, but Lemieux is playing like his old elf again, he even almost got into a fight with Konowalchuk( i think) IMO, hes playing close to the Super Mario of the days of old, granted hes not scoring as much,...at all...but being a team player isnt all about scoreing. He makes nice plays, and passes, he checks hard and protects his goalie. Too bad Gretzky's wife made him retire. *Damns Gretzky's wife* |

hahahaaha
umm.. lemieux is God, you didn't allready know that? Canada totally dominated America in the first period last night. It was ridiculous. Konowalchuck knows that he can't fight Mario, lol.. If mario ever tried to fight me, i would just take the beating. |
Re: WCH
Everyone needs a hockey playing elf. :p
But i really hope Super Mario stics around for a couple more years. He keeps saying he is in "great shape" and "the best shape of his life" so why would he retire?....again?..While he is good, hes no Gretzkey. Though i can only clearly remember Gretzky's later seasons, like near the end of LA and with NYR. *continues to curse Gretzky's wife* |
Re: WCH
Your comparing Lemieux in his prime to Gretzky as a Ranger? Hahahahahahhaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahaha
Lemieux owns gretzky when he was a ranger. And you should watch some games when the great one was on the oilers... boy, he was a marvel to watch. both players are phenominal.. if lemieux was healthy for his whole career, who knows who would have more points at retirement.... |

No. Im complaining that Gretzkey retired. The only comparison i made is I said Lemieux is no Gretzky...but i didnt say now, or when they were in their prime. I meant overall. I really have no idea how ou read that wrong. EDIT: And FYI Lemieux has never played a full season. |
Re: WCH
Canada owns game 2.
Woohoo. |
Re: WCH
well you said lemieux is no gretzky, and you only no gretzky from LA and the Rangers, so I assumed.
and i miss the days when the most dominate players get 150+ points a season. That amount isn't even comprehendable now, lol. |
Re: WCH
Thats because the goalies are whiney little babies and their pads are way too big. Thats why Giguere was so good that season, did you see how big his pads were? Not to mention to 5 sizes too big jersey he wore to create more drag on the puck.
But yeah, i miss that too, they need to shrink goalie equipment, and add back those 2 games they took away, thats why one of Gretzky's records can never be broken. ( Consecutive goals or points for a season, 84 games) |
