I overclocked my system
Well I just overclocked for the first time my computer.
I have a Athlon XP 2100+ which runs at a default 1733MHz with a FSB (front side bus) of 133MHz. I also have 2x512 PC3200 DDRAM from Samsung. Runing agressive CPU settings, the memory at default 2x133MHz BUS but with agressive CAS 2.5-2-2-5 settings, I had a PCMark04 score of 2841. But now, I finished ovecloking the system (look at the picture) from a 133x13.0 setting to 200x9.5 So I got from 1733@266 to 1900@400, and a score in PCMark04 of 3164, which puts me in the top spot at www.futuremark.com for a system with my configuration. :) |
Re: I overclocked my system
Not too bad for your system.
I have a 2500+ oc'd to 3200+ speeds (1.8 default to 2.2 ghz now) and always been rock stable. But then again I have this huge heatsink and 92mm fan on it also :p |
Re: I overclocked my system
Does overclocking make your conscience feel funny?

Re: I overclocked my system
My XP has less L2 and a sloer FSB, so I forced the FSB more than you. I know I did make it run at 2000MHz but with 133 FSB. When I tried it at 200x10 it resets.
Nice rig you got there. Have you increased voltage too? I didn't. |
Re: I overclocked my system
I didn't because I'm rock stable at stock voltage (1.66v). I could go to 1.7 to be safe but ive been at this area for months without a problem.
If I want to go above 2.2ghz, I have to increase voltage and mess with my RAM's timings (which are stock 2-2-2-6 which I love) and make it a little worse which I'm not gonna sacrifice so I'm perfectly fine where it is right now. *waits for end of year/early next year to do anotehr massive upgrade* |
Re: I overclocked my system
*sits in line of waiting*
I plan on a AMD64 on 939 (maybe 90nm) with a nForce 250 Ultra and a new line of HDD and some mid range graphics cards (9600 or something) |
Re: I overclocked my system
I'm going 939 also and PCI Express. I'm holding out for Nforce4 which I read the leaked specs the other day and love them and I'm holding out for it. Probably get me a couple 250 gig HD's (so I can image all my dvd's and games). Probably whatever is top of the line at that time.
Gonna cost me a couple grand but it will be worth it for me considering my current comp. cost me around a grand and I love it and has held up well since december. |
Re: I overclocked my system
Well my PC has some components too old to keep, and I don't have the money to get the new PCIx cards, unless they'll make the current generation for it. If the new nForce 4 is out by the time I get the MOB, be sure I'll tak one with that chipset. But only if PCIx will have cards in my budget.
I heard the 90nm 939 A64 have some more tweaking done which makes them even better. |
Re: I overclocked my system
Yeah, the 90nm 939's should be better. Just I'm not sure when they will be out.

Re: I overclocked my system
nice codename..thoroughbred. any signifigance behind it?
|
Re: I overclocked my system
Not a really big significance for the codename. It came after the Palamino core and it did the job at much less heat and had a excelent overclock ability. There is a series of Thoroughbred 1700+ s/n JIHUB which run at around 1500MHz that could overclock all the way up to 2.3GHz if you had good cooling. So in a sense it was just a pure breed of the Xp line. Too bad it had a small ceiling for FSB (133) so it had to give way to the Barton (166) which is great at overclock too but way to hot.
