ANOTHER Mario pic (and you thought they couldn't get worse!)
![]() See his left leg??? I think he had the same legs on the N64... What's going on here? :hmm: |
Well Eternal Darkness, Mario Sunshine, Animal Leader were all originally developed for the N64.
If you read the Animal Leader review it says that all the models are squary and bulky like a N64 game. This game is looking sad... it looks worse than Sonic Adventure 1 on Dreamcast!! And that's a first gen DC game. |
I didn't know that... hmm...

Well if you check IGN's review of Eternall Darkness, Mario Sunshine you'll read that these games were orginally planned for the N64. Mario Sunshine had been under devlopment on the N64 for 16 months or something and then they scrapped it and made it a GCN game. Same with Eternall Darkness, it was in developmnet stage for N64 for around 7 months and again god scrapped and was made a a GCN. This why I'm not looking forward to Nintendo's first party. http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories...849973,00.html "Animal Leader started its life as a Nintendo 64 game, and its visuals are a testament to this fact. Everything is built out of cubes, and the level of detail falls well short of that found in other GameCube games." Also if I was an insider (since IGN's review/previews are locked) I would show you that the other first party games were in development for the N64. So I expect them to look like an ass. That's actually why I'm starting to choose a X-Box over the GCN, but my I'm still not decided. But the way it's going the GCN is not worth the $$$. |
Ok, so on the basis of some information off IGN and a bunch of screenshots of undetermined age that don't tell you much about what the game looks like in motion or even what the final game will look like, you're starting to make decisions on where to spend a few hundred dollars?
Where's that Nintendose article... |
Obviously ED was a N64 game. So was StarFox Adventures. We saw screens of them back in the day.
Doshin was a 64DD game. Animal Forest actually came out on N64 in Japan. Wave Race was a N64 game. But it doesn't say that in Mario Sunshine's preview, BTW. |
Here's a good look at the graphical improvements. It shows you a good comparison of Animal Leader, and how N64-like it really is.
You don't seem to realize that games take time to develop. If a game like say... Mario was in development for 16 months for N64, all it means was they had planned to put it on N64. There's a lot to game development, character design, deciding on the story, level design. Even though games were originally planned to come out on N64 does not mean they look horrible. If it was that way, it wouldn't take this long for ED to be released. But instead, they have the framework down (level layouts, character designs, story), and they have to redo all the textures and graphics. Halo was originally being developed for Mac, on those old 32MB video cards. No one seems to be bitching now. |
just seen some more Mario screens at Computer and video games.

Hehe, been long...
Ok, my take on these supposedly 'new' released screens is that these ar infact the screens from the N64 version, and nothing else changed... And that the game was evolved into the version we saw at spaceworld 2002
|
I don't know about you guys, but I said it before and I'll say it again, I think that these shots look pretty good. I mean, they are not the prettiest out there, but they are still pretty sweet.

I dunno... I guess it's been awhile since I played an N64 game... but some things in these shots just seem a bit too roundish and such to be N64 screens... especially from an unfinished N64 game... My take on these supposidly "new" released screens is that these are screenshots from an early NGC game that doesn't have all the polishing and detail that the finished version will have ;) |
