C2 and Pepsi Edge
So the low carb craziness has hit our favorite beverages...What does everybody think about these new lower sugar, carb, and calorie sodas? Are they a worthless mix of diet and regular, or are they a good necessary balance between the two?
I've tried both, and C2 most definitely prevails. It does what it's supposed to do. It tastes a lot like normal coke and it has less calories. Pepsi Edge on the other hand doesn't taste enough like regular Pepsi to warrant its existence. If I want a lower calorie/carb pepsi, I'll have a Pepsi One or a Diet Pepsi. Anyway, from now on if I crave a coke, I'll go with a C2 instead of regular coke. Though if I crave a Pepsi, I'll still go with regular Pepsi because Pepsi Edge doesn't quite do it for me. In addition, if they don't make C2 versions of Vanilla Coke or Cherry Coke, I'll sacrifice the calories and carbs to drink those... Thoughts please. edit: Go to http://www.bevnet.com to see what the experts think about the colas. They actually think the exact opposite of me...I guess that's why I'm not an expert. :( |
Re: C2 and Pepsi Edge
Coca-Cola is smart. Playing to the notions of the masses equals large bags with money signs on the outside.

Re: C2 and Pepsi Edge
I haven't tried them, but I will lend my opinion on the whole "diet" soda issue.
If you wanna drink soda, drink the best tasting soda. It will never be good for you...if you want to look out for your health, drink water. Diet Coke is actually worse for you in some ways than regular Coca Cola...plus it tastes a lot worse in most people's opinions. |
Re: C2 and Pepsi Edge
I agree with Stu's opinion in that if people want something healthier, they should just not drink the soda instead of buying the diet one. I don't know how true or untrue this is, but in my opinion, diet versions of normal products don't really help people that much. Like a couple days ago, I was with my mom at the store, and she asked me to go find some 'lite' teriyaki sauce and I just thought it was the stupidest thing in the world. I mean, if you're going to have teriyaki sauce, just get the normal stuff or don't have it all. Geez. Same with salad dressings and every other food. Either get the real stuff or don't have it all. If you think the diet stuff is doing you a lot of good, you're only fooling yourself.

Re: C2 and Pepsi Edge
C2 does taste like coke....watered down coke, but coke none the less. much better than diet. (but also much more sugar, so go figure)
yeah, i'd say it's a balance between diet and regular. |
Re: C2 and Pepsi Edge
Those ingredients seem to be quite unhealthy.... perhaps worse than sugar. I just try to not drink too much soda. :)

Re: C2 and Pepsi Edge
I dont drink diet pop, because i dont see the need. I drink it because i think it tastes good, i dont drink it to lose those unsightly pounds. Diet pop wont help you either, stick the word "low-carb" or "diet" on anything, and some people think its good for you.
" How many of those have you had today?" "17, but dont worry, they're low carb donuts." Remember the war on terrorism is nothing, carbs are the enemy. |
Re: C2 and Pepsi Edge
Yeah the problem with these things is that people eat/drink more of it... just because it has less sugar. So in the end they still get fat.
