So why is it that everyday, average people turn into such jerks online? I'm assuming it's the anonymity of it all.

No one really knows you? So why not be a jerk?

Today I was playing nexus, and I was killing sheep to get some wool to sell. Some guy walks up and steals some of the wool I hadn't picked up yet. Jerk.

Seriously, what is it about MMO environments that cause people to do things like that? There is a cursing block on Nexus or I'm sure the entire community would be telling each other to go **** themselves.

Also, I've heard stories about XBox live. I'm sure they're all true.

Some people are jerks in FFXI too. And you're right, it's because nobody knows who they are, you hide behind a false person or character.
