DS available for preorder at $199

EBGames and Gamestop are taking DS pre-orders at a price of $199. They have listed a speculated ship date of November 29th 2004. If the DS goes for $149 customers will be refunded the extra $50.

hmm. wow. slightly expensive for that one. i'd expect that price for the PSP. 100 to 150 for this.

i think this will indeed drop to 150 by the time it comes out. thats just too much for thier market they're aiming at.

Meh. I'm placing the PSP around $250 myself. But I agree about the DS; I'm hoping it's sold at $150.

Interesting. Didn't expect $200 off the bat. I'd definitely want it to drop down to $150 for launch. Or I will just wait until it gets a little cheaper after launch.

I say it costs 130-150 at launch... And EBgames wouldn't have to refund the cost, because they don't even charge you card until it ships, meaning when they confirm the price it'll just change... :sneaky:

Interesting. I'm going with everyone else still that its gonna be $149.99. $199.99 is a wee bit too much for me for the DS.

Since the price is so high, I don't need to preorder becuase most kids can't afford a portable gaming machine that costs that much, so I think I'll purchase one from the retailer of my choice on the day it comes out.

You've been saying some of the oddest things lately.

It's probably just an estimate. What was the GBA SP's launch price? They probably figure it'll be around that much, plus a bit more.

They won't make it low because a bunch of suckers WILL pay that amount.

They want money NOW. Who doesn't want money NOW? Now is good. I want money now. Where's my money?

;_;

Sons of bitches. ;_;

Nintendo must lower the price.

Re: DS available for preorder at $199

strictly my opinon~~
$199.99 is way too much for the DS and a handheld as mediocre as it. The DS only delivers gaming, and a dual screen with voice and touch commands.....I comply.. $125-150 would be their safest bet.

I predict the SONY PSP launching at around $200, because of the USB 2.0, Camera, Movie Functions, Memory Stick (INCLUDED HOPEFULLY!), Music Functions, and lastly... a crisp detailed gaming screen with crisp games...

but yeah... good for sony, but the DS is NOT worth $199....it's a gaming handheld... and the PSP is an EnTERAINMENT handheld.... which DESERVES the price... lol

Re: DS available for preorder at $199

I just don't get how anybody is speculating $200 for the PSP. If they do that Sony's going to be losing money for every unit sold unless they make it up in games (like the PS2 and Xbox were doing at the beginning of their life cycle - people were buying DVD's and stuff). And with a media machine like the PSP I'm concerned that gaming isn't going to be the first thing on everybody's minds. Maybe Sony has a few safeguards against this. But from the specs I'm familiar with, anything under $250 seems underpriced if Sony wants to cover their collective asses.

Re: DS available for preorder at $199

would depend on sonys plan. and 200 MIGHT not be loosing money or all that much. we just dont know.

but i dont think sony would want to make it too much more then that if they want ppl really interested.
