Phantom, maybe real?
I've been reading a lot of articles lately about how the phantom console will actually be up and running by November 18th...
Is it true? Could the Phantom be real more than a Phantom? Lol... Personally I think it's not that great... I mean, I won't be able to play it because I don't have cable/dsl. Who knows...? I guess we'll find out after E3. Your thoughts and feelings on Phantom,if it is real, will you be getting it? |
Re: Phantom, maybe real?
of course it's real...no, i will not be getting it
i mean, who shows a system before they show screenshots of games... |
Re: Phantom, maybe real?

It doesnt sound, or seem to spectacular, if you will....maybe its called Phantom, because few months after its release, it will only be a figment of our imaginations...

Re: Phantom, maybe real?
I wonder if that's legal and all... :D

Re: Phantom, maybe real?
well, I really don't think they'll be able to get a lot of support, especially from money hungry companies, because for 30 dollars a month I could play any game I wanted, and uh, well that's a pretty sweet deal, and I don't think Nintendo will jump on board with this idea.

Re: Phantom, maybe real?
The phantom dude said in an interview that it will only be playing PC games.

The hardware that's in the phantom won't be handling next gen games for sure. It will be able to push out about 30 fps for Half Life 2 but games after that... Give up now. specs Infinium also revealed what's inside the receiver: an AMD Athlon XP 2500+ central processing unit, an Nvidia GeForce FX 5700 Ultra graphics processing unit, and an Nvidia nForce2 Ultra 400 platform processor. The receiver will be manufactured at Taiwan-based Biostar’s production facility in Guangdong Province, China. Other key specs of the Phantom receiver are DirectX 9-compliant graphics and audio, Dolby Digital 5.1 channel audio, 256MB of RAM, and a 40GB hard drive. That GPU isn't going to take them anywhere in the future. http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/05...s_6096249.html |
Re: Phantom, maybe real?
They went with an nvidia card. That's their downfall right there. Before the 6800Ultra, Nvidia's FX line wasnt the greatest. Should've just gone with a 9800Pro. But I think Nvidia gave the phantom makers tons of money so I guess it wouldnt matter anyways.

All my dreams of the Phantom.... PHOILED!!

Well, Only PC games, that's ghey... Hmm...

Re: Phantom, maybe real?
...AMD 2500+?
thats not gonna cut it anymore in the near future, an AMD 64 3200+ would have probably made a much bigger impact, for not that much difference in price, and going with teh 5700 was a mistake.....at LEAST the 5950 Ultra, i'd be interested to see how DOOM III would run on it. |
