Martha Stewart "Begs" People to Write Judge

Quote:

(AP) - In hopes of winning less time in prison, Martha Stewart has asked friends to write to the judge who will determine her sentence for lying about a stock sale. Stewart asked people to write about her character, work ethic and integrity in letters to U.S. District Judge Miriam Goldman Cedarbaum, who will issue the sentence in June. "If possible, include any memorable experiences you have had with me to explain the basis of any expressed opinion(s)," Stewart wrote in her letter, dated March 12.

That's the gist of it. I find it funny because she thinks letters can sway a judge's decision. Personally, if I was a judge, I wouldn't care too much about the letters just because of the fact that if the person commited the crime, DO THE TIME. Famous or not famous, its not gonna help as much. Don't try getting other people to "beg" to the judge Martha, you knew the consequences of doing Insider training so don't be a pansy, do the time.

I think we should all write letters asking the judge to give Martha the maximum sentence possible. What do you guys think?

lol Jeepnut...

As for the topic, you would be suprised how well lettes work. P Diddy wrote a letter for some guy in "Da Band" who missed a (well, multiple) Probation hearing and who was gonna get jail time... and it kept him out of jail.

I dunno, I don't see it helping Martha much, but it couldn't hurt (unless we take Jeepnuts advice ;))

We should get a big bag of letters and mail it to the judge saying give her hell! *joins in with the others*

It's funny. This is going to backfire. All of the people she's been a bitch to are going to write the judge as well.

I don't see an address in the news article for the judge. If someone can find it for me, +rep because I seriously will send a letter telling the judge take it as far as you can. (I feel like being evil for once:p)

Now now now, none of you have really thought this through have you? What would you have done if you were in her shoes? That is, if someone had told you that a certain one of your big stocks is going to plummet very soon, and lose you a helluva lot of money. Just sit there and ignore it?

Im not saying she wasnt wrong in what she did, im just saying put yourself in her shoes for just a second.

I think it's more the fact that she lied about it that got her in so much trouble.

I would know what I did was wrong and take the punishment if I got caught. Sure, I do things I shouldn't do, but if I get caught for them I pay for them. Not beg and plead to weasle my way out of my come-uppance.

I'll fight hardcore if I know I didn't do anything wrong. But she did, and she knows it. The proof's right in front of everybody and yet she still won't back down. Sad, really...

Im sure that it wasnt just told to her. Thats the kind of stuff you have to be on the inside or have to dig deep to find out.
