Special Annoucement: Homepage returning
*** PLEASE SEND ALL ARTICLES TO GameTavernNews@hotmail.com ***
This time it's for real, we will soon have a functioning homepage. The format will be different in that we won't have separate sections for news and previews on each console. Instead we will feature editorials on various gaming related topics. Formal reviews will be included too, but the focus will be on the opinion articles. We're still determining whether or not we are going to use a flashy pre-made template (which costs money) or use a vb portal system. The portal system integrates the homepage directly into the forums. No designing is needed since the templates are already there. Whatever style we use for the forums should carry over. Now Dyne has graciously agreed to let us harvest his internal organs to pay for the template. I told him that wasn't necessary but he has insisted on the extraction of at least one kidney. If something doesn't work out or if Dyne does not survive the procedure we will probably go with the portal. In the meantime we need to collect content to post to the homepage. We will not have a formal writing staff; instead we will accept submissions from everyone. I know there are reviews and formal articles floating around here from previous attempts at making a page. Thanks for your help in this. |
Re: Special Annoucement: Homepage returning
Yay! The Return of Homepage! :)
Is there a specific grand opening date? |
Re: Special Annoucement: Homepage returning
Can we write on the topic of our choice? Or are there certain issues you would like people to tackle?
|
Re: Special Annoucement: Homepage returning
I won't tell you what to write on - I may have suggestions some of the time.

Re: Special Annoucement: Homepage returning
I'm going to get all my reviews and editorials from GamingNow.
|
Re: Special Annoucement: Homepage returning
And a quick note from me. NO PLAGIARISM (ie: Dont just copy and paste other views and call it your original)
|
Re: Special Annoucement: Homepage returning
Ok, I have a question.
I have all my old GamingNow reviews and editorials saved on my harddrive. When I typed them, I typed them using html code. Should I submit them like this, or would it be easier for me to go through and remove the coding, and just alter the text using word features, like "italics" instead of ""? |
Re: Special Annoucement: Homepage returning
You should probably use the forum codes "[] [/]" instead of html. It's looking like we'll be going with the portal system for the time being, but ask Dyne to be sure.

Re: Special Annoucement: Homepage returning
We're not running HTML on these forums-- I think because it's a portal and we're going straight through vB itself.. that the vB rules will apply. Any images too, use [IMG] tags; you know, standard procedures. For the portal, it's all going to be literally attached to vB, where we post in secret forums and it shows up on the front page. I had it going with my old site for a while.
But yeah, anticipate the portal. It's so easy to change it to HTML anyways afterwards. |

Well, we have to go into legal shenanigans.. like, somebody has ownership to my heart, so that's gone...

I'll take the legs

Re: Special Annoucement: Homepage returning
No, I'm still going to need those to kick ass.

Re: Special Annoucement: Homepage returning
Then give me your hands!:D

Re: Special Annoucement: Homepage returning
Alright we need those submissions... Can't launch a site w/o content. Send everything to gametavernnews@hotmail.com. We mainly need opinion topics on any videogame-related issue, though we can use reviews too.
