The Future is Coming...
I was in the doctor's office a couple days ago thumbing through a magazine when an ad on the back of the magazine informed that a new age of service is coming. A family of four and their dog were postioned in front of their house all standing together smiling. Standing their with them was a humanoid robot as it's creators Honda calls Asimo. It was advertising the robot as an around the house helper. Being able to push, pull, and carry heavy loads and navigate with ease through the typical house with stairs and obstacles like furniture. I went to their website which features another ad. Asimo also has it's own webpage here I think this is pretty cool. Although Asimo is nowhere near robots like those in popular movies like Bicentenial Man or Artificial Intelligence it's coming along. It can navigate different terrains like slopes, stairs, and around your furniture and stuff. It also makes use of a couple voice commands. When I think of a world with robots assisting us, I have always thought to the future but a couple days ago I realized the future is here. It's happening and to be a part of it is pretty exciting. Imagine how far robots will have come when we are old and frail! Anyway enjoy the webpage, pictures, movies, and post your thoughts here. :)

I would never trust a robot to take care of things around my home, let alone an old person's. It might think one of my systems is trash (or even fall in love with it....remember the Jetsons? :hmm: ), drag it up the stairs, and then end up breaking it, causing me to sell it (the robot) or it's parts to get a new one. Plus if it can carry heavy loads, it could also end up dragging your poor sweet old Grannie up and down the stairs :D.

I understand devleoping the wheel, and kart. But a robot to carry my things... no thanks. But you could make him a great toy... *starts thinking of sadistic things to do with the robot*:crush: |
Oh, they redid it...back in '99 I saw Honda's robot, though then it looked thiner but still basically the same with the spaceman look.

Yeah, I saw this on TV at some point or another. Its pretty cool. It'll probably be too expensive for me to buy one at any point in my life time though... :(
