Advanced Jobs/Guilds
It would be good if our abilities were spread out among the clan. Each job and guild gives a character certain abilities. So far, we have this:
Player: Rndm_Perfection Main Advanced Job: Samurai Sub Advanced Job: Dragoon Guild: Fisherman (I Think..) Player: DarkMaster Main Advanced Job: Samurai Sub Advanced Job: Dragoon Guild: Blacksmith Player: Crono Main Advanced Job: Ranger Sub Advanced Job: Ninja Guild: Culinarians I'm not sure what ominub and hero2 have in mind, so you guys can post here. One of you should be an alchemist, and the other should chose from boneworkers/weavers/tanners (for making clothes). We need people who will be good in magic (summoners, paladins, dark knights, etc.). This would make the clan more balanced. This way, if we ever decide to form one big party, we can take on hard enemies. Rndm and DM will be good at short-range melee attacks, I will be good at long-range (my main weapon will be the powerful yet somewhat innacurate musket) and support (being able to heal people from afar while attacking), though Rangers can also use short range daggers, thats why I'm also being a Ninja (for that and speed). And we should get people who are good at magic. Well, that's all I have to say for now. Btw, we should be getting another member soon who is getting FFXI for xmas. I'm not at all worried about basic jobs, so I don't care what you are right now. Just early next year once we have good advanced jobs available to us, we must think up a good clan strategy. |
Re: Advanced Jobs/Guilds
Sure, I'll go fisherman. I'm also definately going Samurai... they're too cool. However, I also plan to excel a bit in ranged attack. My sub-job (because DM is going Dragoon) will be either Warrior or Ranger. Warriors can provoke, which is an asset... and the ranger status would definately help out my ranged attack.
My weapon will be a pole arm. I'm assuming DM is going with the mighty Great Katana? Also, my San d'Orian Thief/Beastmaster will be either a goldsmith or alchemist. Whichever best fits our needs... I can always change. |
Re: Advanced Jobs/Guilds

Re: Advanced Jobs/Guilds
I've decided to be a Paladin/Ninja now.
EDIT: Does anyone know if you can keep your magic and abillties learned from a job and use them when you switch? For example, my basic job will be Red Mage.. would I still be able to use my magic when I become a Paladin/Ninja? And do your stats get carried over when you switch jobs? |

and about the stats being carried over yes stats will be carried over from your ninja to your paladin making your stronger you will find out alot once you start to play the game. :) |

Also, you can't use the same items. If you have 50 levels in RDM and you change to Ninja, you'll have to find new gear that a level 1 Ninja can use. Edit: Basically, starting a new job is just like starting a new character with a lot of gil and consumable items. I'm not sure if skill points remain the same for weapons. I sure hope they do though, and it seems to make sense. Also... what happened to Ranger? That's a very, very good race. And I'm not sure Ninja would be too good with Paladin. Ninja's dual weild is fun, but Paladins excel with shields. The Ninjitsu may be cool, but Paladins can use WHM magic. *shrugs* No matter though. You can experiment a lot with your character. You can have 70 levels in every job if you want to test everything out. |
Re: Advanced Jobs/Guilds
yes skill points will be the same but you must remember that they max out for lvls so basicly if you have a lvl 40war and you have max evasion for him when you switch to a new person to lvl your evasion will be maxed at like 5 or so if your lvl1 it will go up with each lvl to max

Re: Advanced Jobs/Guilds
I was fighting in a party with a Bard the other night. Wow, talk about useful, the magic they cast is tremendously effective and helpful, and most of them don't even cost MP. Before the bard came in, we were having trouble with some very tough Grunts, but once we got those enhancement skills cast on us, we took down three very tough grunts in a row without healing.
I really recommend this job to someone who's insterested in being the massive supporter in a party. It's not the kind of job I would chose, but if you really want to be useful to almost anyone, be a bard. (btw, they aren't half as gay as I expected them to look and preform, heh). |
Re: Advanced Jobs/Guilds
after lots of research Ive decided on my jobs im going to be a pal/war/cook
and crono dont do pal ninja its a horable mix. The only thing Ive read so far that goes with a pal is war or whm anything else is useless. Ill post a link later for a damn good site ominub showed me the only problem with the site is that it has alot of spyware but it does list all the jobs and quests and has a forum. *found it http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/ |

Re: Advanced Jobs/Guilds
The MND and MP boost from WHM would be quite significant. Believe it or not, synergy is very, very good in this game =¬Þ
I'm still undecided about my subjob... but I'm quite certain I'm going Samurai to get the cool armor and polearm. Maybe I'll go SAM/DRK to maximize my damage. Lokii... it'll be hard to figure out that character. I like thief, beastmaster, black mage, and ninja for him. Which combination I'm going to use, I'm uncertain. Maybe I'll just level them all and switch around depending on my mood. In otherwords, he's not going to be getting anywhere anytime soon. As for PAL... Monk also makes a good sub (assuming it has not yet been mentioned). Paladins like to take damage, and Monk gives the highest bonuses to health. And lastly... DM, you say you're going SAM/DRG? I think you should consider DRG/SAM because Wyvern is amazing. Also, Dragoon armor is just about as cool as Samurai armor. The only negative effect is that you'd be a polearm user instead of a Great Katana man (unless you like weapons half your level, heh). |
Re: Advanced Jobs/Guilds
rndm you should consider drk/sam insted of sam/drk since drk can do a hell of alot of dmg with weapon skills and the sam has an ability to get TP to 300% instantly thats what im going to be but this is just some advice to look at
