The Last Samurai

Oh yeah, I saw it twice this weekend. I believe it's the best movie I've seen to date.

The samurai cast and outfits were perfection. The plated armor and demonic masks were just stunning. The movie itself envoked many, many emotions in me. I enjoyed the movie very much. I applaud Tom Cruise's performance, as well as the rest of the Grade A cast.

Going to see it tonight with Crono. Oh baby, I've been anticipating this one for a long ass time. Can't wait.

I was going to see it on Saturday, thinking that having an adult/guardian/someone over 18 with me when I gave the person my ticket would be enough "accompany-ment" for me to get in...

Guess not...

Cursed movie ratings... I'm going to see it this weekend however. With an adult...

Saw it on Friday. It rocked.

The big silent samurai looks like a Galka.

Heh... aww man, that's gotta hurt his ego. Oh well, he's not supposed to look pretty, heh.

But yeah, the muscle man was up there as one of my favorite characters. Gah, all so good though. I just liked him because he used a pole arm, looked bad-ass, and made the samurai grunts and shouts.

Of course, Ujio was badass as well, and everyone loves Katsumoto. Aah... and Bob... Hell, all the characters were perfection.

Im going to watch this movie as soon as I can.

It looks awesome.

But first, Ive got to convince this girl to go with me, because thats the whole point of actually going to a theatre to watch a movie. Otherwise I will just wait till its out on DVD. :)

Now, I just got to find a girl...

Take someone that won't make too much commentary and one who can enjoy an epic. I have a feeling that The Last Samurai is not a date movie. :sneaky:

lol. Any movie is a date movie. :p

But yeah...the ultimate date movies are horror flicks. For obvious reasons.

To be honest, I don't have much interest in this move. Whenever I see previews for a movie like this, it just seems so...boring. I can't explain it, I'm very hard to please I suppose, but these sort of "epic" type movies like Gladiator or more recently "Master and Commander" don't really do much for me. I'm looking forward to Tim Burton's new movie "Big Fish" however.

Re: The Last Samurai

I saw the movie and was suprised. Its not as action packed as the preview makes it looks. There was a lot more drama in it than I expected. I also agree that the cast did a great job.

BTW, I've been goin on thinking the last samurai was referring to Tom Cruise but then it hit me today, isn't the plural for samurai also samurai? That would make more sense to me, that it was referring to that last group of saumurai, not Tom Cruise. Hm...ya

Germy, Big Fish does look sweet! Not many ppl kno about it though :-/

*spoilers*

I'm not entirely sure of this, but I do believe Algren was the only samurai still alive after the final battle, therefore The Last Samurai. But of course, you could also be right, either way works out.

*end spoilers*

Damn what a sweet ass movie. I was expecting something awesome, and I was still blown away. It all felt so right, so perfectly connected, I really got the sense of supreme fascination when it was all done. Best Tom Cruise performance I've ever seen. I'm not a big fan of him (not to say he's a bad actor or anything), but I was really surprised how well he pulled off his role in LS. Best movie I've seen all year, one of the best I've ever seen in fact. Return of the King is next week, oh man, I can't wait, it really has some competition with The Last Samurai though (not in terms of box office sales, which RotK will no doubt destroy),

Isn't this a remake of an older movie?

You're thinking the Last Unicorn.

But more seriously, I believe it's based on a book. Otherwise, the screenwriter is ge-ni-ous for modern standards.
