Re: Is it true?

odd you post that.
just saw someone else posting that at another forum.

but anywho, yes and no. they're just doing it to get thier 15min of fame.

The ipods batteries will wear out eventually (its a battery. all batteries will wear out)... But i've known ppl who've had them for years and years and still going strong, and yes, they are very easily replaceable. If they are under warenty, just send em in and they get free replacement. if not, replace it yourself, the ipod comes apart not too difficultly.

The batteries have a certain amount of rechargable cycles. It really depends on your usage.

Re: Is it true?

Of course it isn't true on all ipods. If it were there'd be a much bigger uproar over it. I'm sure it can be true on some ipods, however. Maybe the best thing to do would be to send it in 10 or 11 months after you buy it (say it's broken) and have them send you a new one. I'm sure they'd give you a new warrenty and it's probably not too hard to scam them into doing it (They'd much rather just give you another product that costs them about half of what they're charging than risk you possibly taking them to court for something petty like this or (more likely) risk a larger amount of bad PR.

its no differnt then the battery on a PDA, or things like that. all batteries have a limited life.

its really not that expensive to replace the ipod battery tho. there was a website that took it apart and showed pictures step by step to do it.

doesnt matter tho. my ipod has a 5 year replacment warenty that i got for $50 when i bought it :)

my old Rio mp3 player, 20gig HD. $400 i got with a 2 year warenty.

year and half into it, i Decided i wanted an ipod... sent it back, got FULL CREDIT back. Then bought an ipod with the money.

because of that warenty, right now i could send back my 30gig ipod and get a 40gig with the money. but i plan on sending it back before it hits its 5th year and getting whatever new ipod is out then.

for $50, very very small price to pay. ;)

Okay wait...your telling me that because you bought a 50$ warranty, you can send it back anytime during that warranty period and recieve the full amount you paid for it back? So really, you paid only 50 bucks for it? (you could only use it a year and a half, but still) I find that hard to believe.

Re: Is it true?

not exactly. it is a 5 year replacement warenty. they WILL refund the money anytime in the 5 years if something goes wrong with it.

theres the trick there, they arent going to waste thier time searching for whats wrong with it. most of the time they will just take it, assume something is wrong and send the money back just as quick.

When i sent my old mp3 player back. it had a website with a timeline of its progress, the time it had got recieved was same time as it said refund shiped out.

i even have friends that work at stores like best buy and they will say the same thing. That works.

The other part is you just give them a ghost problem. say it freezes and locks up every so often. How will they prove it doesnt? by playing it for day after day wiating for the problem? no. they just shrug and send the money back.

Take it for how you want bro. but it does work and that $50 warenty is WELL worth it. things like my mp3 player are about the only things i will buy the warenty on because of this reason.

well to keep doing it you lose about 100 each time. because they dont refund the warenty, and you have to buy a new warenty on whatever you buy with the money. (unless you buy something else with it)

and its usually only a gift card. but it is fun to have a 400 or $500 gift card and go thro the store looking for stuff. lol
